DESCRIPTION

Chinese porcelain saucer decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a symbolic garden landscape featuring a willow tree, flowering peony, bamboo, and pierced scholar’s rocks. The rim is finished with a repeating geometric and floral border design. Finely painted with delicate brushwork on a pale blue-white porcelain ground. The composition reflects traditional Qing dynasty symbolic decorative themes associated with harmony and prosperity. An attractive 18th century export porcelain example.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Qianlong period blue and white porcelains frequently incorporated symbolic garden imagery inspired by Chinese literati painting traditions. Peony blossoms represented wealth and honor, while willow trees and scholar’s rocks carried associations with refinement and longevity. Even restored examples remain collectible for their decorative quality and historical character.
