CONDITION

GOOD (4/5) – General age-related wear, firing imperfections, and light rim fritting. Shallow chip to the rim 2cm. Minor glaze imperfections and kiln spots visible. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

A Chinese porcelain platter decorated in rich underglaze cobalt blue with a scenic literati landscape composition. The central panel depicts pavilions, bridges, boats, trees, and distant mountains surrounded by decorative geometric border patterns.

The octagonal form and broad rim are typical of Qing Dynasty export porcelain intended for the Western market. The strong cobalt tones and balanced composition give the piece excellent display appeal.

An attractive example of late 18th to early 19th century blue and white Chinese porcelain.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white export porcelains remained highly sought after throughout the Qing Dynasty, particularly wares featuring idealized river landscapes inspired by Chinese scholarly painting traditions.
