DESCRIPTION
Chinese export porcelain plate of the Qianlong period, decorated in Famille Rose enamels of pink, green and iron red. The central bouquet features flowering peonies, buds and ribbon-tied motifs, with scattered floral sprigs around the border. A turquoise enamel band and gilt rim frame the composition. The colourful enamels and gilded details give the plate an attractive decorative character despite its old repairs.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
The combination of floral enamels, turquoise decoration and gilding offers particular interest to collectors of Chinese export porcelain. Old metal staple repairs record an earlier effort to preserve the plate and form part of its collecting history.
