DESCRIPTION

A Chinese porcelain cabinet plate decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a picturesque mountain landscape. The composition features dramatic rock formations, trees, a pavilion with figures, and a waterside scene executed in expressive brushwork. The reverse bears a stylized peach and bat mark in underglaze blue. A decorative example of late Qing export porcelain with attractive hand-painted character.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white landscape porcelains remained popular throughout the Guangxu period (1875-1908), combining traditional Chinese scenic motifs with painterly brushwork. Decorative marks such as the peach and bat symbol were often used on quality wares and are associated with wishes for longevity and good fortune.
