CONDITION

FAIR/RESTORED (2/5) – Broken across and glued, with a visible discoloured join running through the centre from rim to rim on both sides, minor chipping along the join and foot rim, and light surface wear. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

Chinese porcelain plate painted in underglaze blue with a spreading pine tree beside a low ornamental table supporting flowering plants and rockwork. Further floral sprays and a small landscape panel complete the central arrangement, enclosed within a shaped scroll border. The broad rim features bold stylised flowers linked by a narrow lattice band. Rich cobalt washes contrast with fine linear details beneath a pale blue-tinted glaze, while the reverse is plain with a raised circular foot.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

The combination of pine, flowering plants and ornamental furnishings gives the composition a distinctive character. Bold floral motifs around the rim balance the finer brushwork of the central scene, offering an attractive study of Chinese blue and white decoration.
