A finely painted Chinese Imari porcelain plate, dating to the Qianlong period (circa 1736โ€“1745), featuring a central still life of precious scholarly objects โ€” including scrolls, censers, and vases โ€” surrounded by flowering branches in a symbolic and auspicious arrangement. The border is richly decorated with alternating panels of lotus blossoms, peonies, and scroll patterns, using a vivid Imari palette of underglaze blue, iron red, gilding, and touches of green enamel.

The central motif likely draws from the traditional “Hundred Antiques” (็™พๅคๅ›พ) theme, celebrating refined scholarly life and often referencing symbols of longevity, wisdom, and fortune. Some of these elements โ€” such as the treasure vase, scrolls, and incense burners โ€” are associated with the Eight Auspicious Symbols (ๅ…ซๅฎ, ba bao) in Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist culture. These motifs were believed to bestow protection, abundance, enlightenment, and spiritual wealth upon the household.
