DESCRIPTION

Chinese porcelain teapot and cover decorated in the Imari palette with rich cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt highlights.The body is moulded with vertical lobed panels and painted with large chrysanthemum blossoms and scrolling foliage.The domed cover features matching floral decoration with a rounded knop finial.Elegant curved handle and slender spout complete the refined Kangxi period form.A decorative and collectible example of early Qing export porcelain.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Chinese Imari wares were produced for both domestic use and export markets during the Kangxi period.The combination of underglaze blue with iron red and gilt decoration became highly sought after in Europe during the 18th century.Teapots of this type reflect the growing global tea trade and the influence of Chinese porcelain on Western taste.
