CONDITION

GOOD (4/5) – Hairline crack extending from the rim into the body with minor rim chipping, fritting and kiln imperfections. Surface wear and small firing spots visible. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

Chinese export porcelain deep dish decorated in rich underglaze cobalt blue. The interior shows a detailed river landscape with pagodas, bridges, figures, and sailing boats surrounded by rocky scenery. The scalloped rim is finished with an ornate floral and lattice border. Nicely painted with strong tonal variation in the blue decoration. A classic 18th century Qing export design.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Landscape scenes with pagodas and waterside architecture were among the most popular motifs produced for the European export market during the Qianlong period. These blue and white wares combined traditional Chinese imagery with forms intended for Western dining and display.
