DESCRIPTION
Rare Chinese export porcelain cup from the Qianlong period, finely decorated in the Mandarin palette.
The exterior features an animated garden scene with figures gathered beside a table, set within a landscape of bridges, pavilions, and fenced terraces.
Rich gilt scrollwork frames reserves containing chickens and delicate pink floral motifs.
The quality of the hand-painted enamels and detailed narrative decoration reflects the refined workmanship of eighteenth-century export porcelain.
A scarce survivor from an early tea service, retaining strong decorative appeal despite restoration.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Mandarin pattern porcelains were luxury wares produced for export during the height of the China trade in the 18th century.
Individual cups from these services are increasingly difficult to locate, particularly examples with extensive figure decoration and gilded ornament.
Restored examples remain desirable to collectors as authentic period pieces and are often acquired due to the rarity of surviving Qianlong export porcelain.
