DESCRIPTION

Chinese porcelain cup or small beaker raised on a pedestal foot.

Decorated with famille rose floral sprays reserved against a dense underglaze blue diaper ground.

The vessel is fitted with a pair of molded dragon-form handles accented with traces of gilding.

Fine craquelure is visible across the glaze, consistent with age and manufacture.

An attractive example of Chinese export style porcelain in the Qianlong taste.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white wares enriched with famille rose enamels were produced during the Qing Dynasty for both domestic and export markets.

Dragon handles and floral reserves are popular decorative features associated with 18th century Chinese porcelain and continued to inspire later reproductions.
