DESCRIPTION
A Chinese export porcelain bowl of the Qianlong period, decorated in the Mandarin palette with detailed figural court and garden scenes. Groups of figures are depicted among trees, buildings and landscaped settings, divided by elaborate iron-red, gilt and floral panel borders. The exterior combines pink, turquoise, orange and green enamels with gilt detailing. The interior is comparatively restrained with a narrow decorative border around the rim.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Mandarin palette porcelain became an important category of Chinese export ware during the Qianlong period, particularly in the later 18th century. Elaborate figural scenes, architectural settings and richly colored borders were produced for Western export markets and remain characteristic examples of Qing Dynasty enamel decoration.
