CONDITION

DESCRIPTION

A finely painted Chinese export porcelain plate dating to the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a tranquil lakeside landscape featuring a small village, boats, mountain backdrop, and flowering lotus arrangement in a decorative pot.

The border displays alternating diaper and pomegranate motifs with scrolling decoration around the rim. The octagonal shape and delicate painted details are characteristic of 18th century Chinese export porcelain.

The reverse remains unmarked with a neatly finished foot rim and visible age-related firing characteristics.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white export porcelain from the Qianlong era remains highly collected for its detailed hand-painted decoration and refined porcelain body. Landscape scenes combined with symbolic floral motifs were especially popular for the European export market during the 18th century.

The diaper and pomegranate border elements reflect traditional decorative vocabulary commonly seen on Qing export wares of the period.
