CONDITION

GOOD (4/5) – Light wear, frits and minor glaze imperfections consistent with age. Small areas of rubbing to the enamels and gilt decoration. No visible major chips or cracks. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

A finely painted Chinese Kangxi period porcelain plate decorated in the Imari palette. The interior features a central floral medallion surrounded by stylized flowering sprays and scrolling foliage. The border is richly decorated with alternating floral motifs in iron red and underglaze cobalt blue with gilt accents. The reverse is simply decorated with floral sprays and a double circle mark to the base. A well balanced and attractive example of early Qing export porcelain.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Chinese Imari porcelain became highly sought after in both Asia and Europe during the Kangxi period. These wares combined traditional Chinese porcelain craftsmanship with color palettes inspired by Japanese Imari ceramics. Plates of this type were widely exported and remain popular among collectors of Qing dynasty export porcelain.
