The central medallion is decorated with elegant floral sprays featuring the distinctive Two-Horned Peony motif (双犄牡丹), surrounded by scrolling blossoms and finely painted reserves.

The cavetto and rim display alternating panels and a continuous Diaper Pattern border, executed in deep cobalt blue with excellent tonal variation typical of early Kangxi wares. The reverse is simply decorated with minimal brushwork, consistent with export or domestic utilitarian pieces of the period.

Collector’s Notes: The Two-Horned Peony is a notable decorative feature strongly associated with the Kangxi era, though its origins trace back to earlier Ming Dynasty artistic traditions, including works attributed to Tang Yin. This motif became especially popular in early Qing Dynasty porcelain, admired for its stylized elegance and symbolic association with prosperity and nobility.
