📜 Description This finely carved White Jade figurine depicts a recumbent Chilong dragon with curled tail, pronounced claws and stylised facial features. The stone has a soft celadon-white tone with attractive natural russet and darker inclusions concentrated toward the rear and tail, adding depth and character.

The carving shows smooth polishing and gentle translucency when viewed under light, consistent with hand-worked Qing Dynasty jade. The dragon’s body is compact yet dynamic, with subtle incised detailing to define limbs and features.

Collector’s Notes: The Chilong (hornless dragon) is a popular motif in Chinese jade carving, symbolising power, protection and auspicious energy. During the Qing Dynasty, small jade carvings such as this were treasured as scholar’s objects, talismans or personal ornaments. Natural russet skin was often appreciated and incorporated into the design to enhance visual contrast.
