Antique Chinese Export Silver Solid Dragon Qing Marked Kwan Wo 19th Century

๐ŸŒŸ Product Details

๐Ÿ†” Inventory Code INV2097 โ“‚๏ธ Material Silver ๐Ÿณ๏ธ Origin Chinese ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Period Qing Dynasty (Late 19th – Early 20th Century) ย ๐Ÿ…‚ Subject Saltย  ๐Ÿท๏ธ Marked KW- Kwan Wo – Chinese silver mark on the base (see photos) ๐Ÿ“œ Description

A finely crafted antique Chinese silver salt, dating to the late Qing dynasty, 19th century, richly decorated with a high-relief dragon motif encircling the globular body.

This small yet intricately designed shaker features a fully three-dimensional, sinuous five-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl, set against a plain polished ground. The raised relief is detailed with coiled scales, whiskers, and fiery tendrils, capturing the dynamism of the mythical beastโ€”a traditional symbol of imperial authority, strength, and protection.

The base bears a stamped KW maker’s mark, attributed to Kwan Wo, a known silversmith active between circa 1875โ€“1940 in Canton and Hong Kong. Referenced in Adrien von Ferschtโ€™s definitive research on Chinese Export Silver, the KW mark is well documented among late-Qing and early Republic period Chinese silverware.

A scarce and collectible piece of Chinese export silver from the 19th centuryโ€”ideal for collectors of Qing decorative arts or antique silver.
