📜 Description
Fine Chinese Porcelain Blanc De Chine figure of a seated Foo Lion (guardian lion), modeled with expressive features and flowing mane. The lion is shown resting one paw on a ball, symbolizing protection and authority, with a smaller cub positioned alongside. The figure is mounted on a hollow rectangular base, functioning as a Joss Stick Holder for incense use. The glaze is a soft creamy white typical of Dehua kilns, with subtle pooling and kiln characteristics visible.

Visible restoration and losses are present, particularly to extremities and applied elements, consistent with age and handling.

Collector’s Notes: Blanc De Chine wares from Dehua are highly regarded for their refined white glaze and sculptural quality. Foo Lions (also known as guardian lions) were traditionally placed as protectors and symbols of power and prosperity. Examples adapted as Incense Holders were especially popular in domestic altars during the Qing Dynasty, making such pieces both decorative and functional, and highly collectible today.
