📜 Description

Finely modeled Chinese Blanc De Chine Porcelain figure of a seated Foo Lion, produced in the famous Dehua kilns. The lion is richly detailed with flowing ribbons and ornamental harness, standing proudly on a shaped base with an integrated joss stick holder.

The expressive face, openwork mouth and sculptural quality reflect early hand-finishing typical of the Kangxi period. The creamy white glaze is smooth and lustrous, characteristic of high-quality Blanc De Chine production.

Collector’s Notes: Blanc De Chine wares from Dehua are highly prized for their purity of glaze and refined modeling. The Foo Lion (also known as Shi or guardian lion) symbolizes protection, power and auspicious energy in Chinese culture. Examples from the Kangxi Dynasty are especially valued for their strong sculptural presence and hand-worked detail, often superior to later productions.
