DESCRIPTION

A fine Japanese miniature cloisonne vase dating to the Meiji period. The vase features a translucent ginbari enamel ground with a subtle textured foil effect beneath the enamel. Decorated with elegant bamboo stalks and leaves beneath a rich purple shoulder, the piece is finished with brass mounts at the rim and foot. A refined cabinet-sized example of Japanese decorative arts.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Ginbari cloisonne, also known as silver foil enamel, became one of the most admired Japanese enamel techniques during the Meiji period. Its luminous translucent enamel and naturalistic decoration made these wares highly desirable among both domestic and export collectors.
