Charming square deep dish with flared corners, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and hand-painted iron red with floral motifs and garden scenes. The borders feature lattice and flower panels in a quintessential Staffordshire adaptation of the Imari style. A robust example of everyday English porcelain influenced by the fashion for Oriental decoration.

Collector’s Notes: Staffordshire potteries of the 19th century often produced wares that echoed Japanese and Chinese decorative schemes.
