DESCRIPTION
A Chinese famille rose porcelain saucer decorated with a brightly colored rooster standing beside flowering peony branches and pierced garden rockwork. A butterfly hovers above the scene, all outlined with delicate gilt detailing. The soft famille rose enamels and lively composition are characteristic of Yongzheng period export porcelain. The reverse remains plain glazed with visible antique staple restorations. A decorative and historically interesting Qing dynasty example.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Rooster subjects were popular in Qing porcelain painting and symbolized vigilance, prosperity, and good fortune. Yongzheng famille rose wares are admired for their refined enamel palette and elegant decorative balance. Antique staple repairs such as those seen here reflect traditional historic methods used to preserve valued porcelain pieces.
