DESCRIPTION

An unusual Chinese porcelain footed serving dish dating to the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The interior is finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a literati landscape scene featuring a pagoda, riverside buildings, rocky outcrops, and small boats.

The shaped form is enhanced by decorative blue border designs around the rim and a raised oval foot beneath. Visible antique staple repairs reflect historic restoration methods commonly used to preserve valued porcelain wares.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Blue and white porcelains of the Qianlong era were widely admired for their refined painting and elegant forms. Landscape scenes inspired by Chinese scholarly painting traditions were especially favored for export wares during the 18th century.
