DESCRIPTION
A Chinese porcelain rectangular tray with canted corners, decorated in underglaze blue with a river landscape featuring pavilions, trees, and distant mountains. The decoration has been enhanced with later clobbered overglaze enamels in pink, green, yellow, and iron red with gilt accents. The shaped rim is richly ornamented with floral and scroll motifs. An attractive decorative example of export porcelain from the Qing period.

Clobbered porcelain refers to Chinese blue and white wares that were later embellished in Europe or Asia with colorful overglaze enamels to suit changing tastes. These pieces are collected for their distinctive combination of original Qing porcelain decoration and later decorative embellishment.
