DESCRIPTION

An 18th century Chinese export porcelain saucer from the Qianlong period, decorated in colourful Mandarin famille rose enamels. The central scene depicts four figures gathered in a courtyard, including a flute player, surrounded by architectural features, a flowering tree and garden details. Rich turquoise, blue, pink, green and iron-red enamels create a lively composition. The rim features a repeating circular ornamental border with fine iron-red detailing.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Mandarin famille rose porcelain was produced for the European export market during the Qing Dynasty. Its colourful figure scenes and detailed decoration reflect the popularity of Chinese subjects in 18th century European collections. An appealing example of Qianlong export porcelain.
