DESCRIPTION
A finely potted Chinese export porcelain saucer dating to the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Decorated in rich underglaze cobalt blue with peony blossoms, floral sprays, and trailing foliage. The rim is finished with a traditional brown dressed edge, contrasting attractively against the white porcelain body. The floral arrangement is balanced around a central blossom motif in typical 18th century taste. A charming example of Qing export porcelain.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Blue and white porcelain from the Qianlong era remains highly collectible for its refined painting and durable porcelain body. Floral compositions featuring peonies were especially popular in export wares intended for the European market. Brown edged rims are commonly associated with practical export tableware of the period.
