CONDITION

FAIR/RESTORED (2/5) – Professionally repaired from multiple breaks with visible restored hairlines running across the plate. Minor rim frits and wear to the gilding consistent with age. Later painted family ownership inscription on the base. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

An attractive Chinese export porcelain deep plate decorated in the Famille Rose palette during the Qianlong period. The central scene depicts elegant ladies and a young attendant within a garden landscape, enclosed by a decorative diaper border with floral and landscape cartouches. Fine gilt detailing enhances the rim and border. A decorative and collectible example of 18th century Chinese export porcelain despite its restoration.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Chinese export Famille Rose wares produced during the Qianlong period were made for both domestic and overseas markets and remain highly sought after today. Mandarin pattern subjects featuring courtly figures and garden scenes became especially popular in Europe during the late 18th century. Restored examples continue to be collected for their historical significance and decorative appeal.
