📜 Description
Chinese Porcelain plate decorated in the Imari palette with underglaze Blue & White, iron-red enamels, soft famille verte tones, and Gilt highlights. The center shows a pavilion scene with a female figure and attendant, accompanied by a large bird traditionally read as a Phoenix. The border is filled with floral sprays and shaped panels containing precious objects and ribbon-tied emblems. The reverse is simply finished with sparse underglaze blue strokes.
Collector’s Notes: This decorative subject is associated with the legend of Xiao Shi and the auspicious theme of music attracting divine birds, a popular literati and matrimonial motif in Qing art. Plates of the Kangxi period are valued for their crisp potting, luminous glaze, and lively combination of cobalt, iron red, and gilding. The scene blends narrative imagery with symbolic objects, making it appealing to collectors of Chinese export and figural Qing porcelain.
