DESCRIPTION

A decorative 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty porcelain plate painted in the Canton famille rose palette. The interior is densely arranged with colorful butterflies and other insects among flowering plants, roses, chrysanthemums and leafy branches. Bright pink, green, turquoise, orange, blue and yellow enamels create a lively botanical composition across the surface. Finely detailed butterflies provide particularly attractive focal points, while a gilt border finishes the rim. The plate displays the elaborate decorative character associated with Chinese export porcelain of the period.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Canton famille rose porcelain was produced in China for the export market and became particularly popular during the 19th century. Elaborate floral compositions enriched with butterflies, birds and insects are characteristic collecting themes, valued for their colorful enameling and decorative appeal.
