DESCRIPTION
Chinese export porcelain plate painted in underglaze cobalt blue against a pale, celadon-toned white ground. The central composition features bamboo rising from pierced garden rocks beside flowering peony and smaller floral sprays. Alternating floral motifs and scrolling stems decorate the border, framing the garden scene. Simple underglaze blue brush decoration appears near the rim on the reverse.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
The combination of bamboo, flowering peony and pierced rocks creates a decorative garden subject with particular appeal for collectors of Chinese floral porcelain. The central composition and surrounding floral border offer attractive details for close study.
