CONDITION

FAIR/RESTORED (2/5) – Restored border section with visible glued fracture lines and white filling, now cream-coloured in places, with small rim chips, fritting and light surface wear. Please review the photos carefully for more details.

DESCRIPTION

Chinese porcelain plate painted in underglaze blue with flowering peony and slender bamboo rising beside ornamental rockwork. Fine lines define the layered petals, contrasting with darker blue leaves and softly shaded rocks. A double circular line encloses the central composition, while three extended floral sprays decorate the broad rim. The reverse is plain glazed and rests on a raised circular foot.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

The graceful bamboo stems balance the large peony blossom, creating an open and carefully arranged floral composition. Repeated flowering sprays around the rim complement the central decoration, with varied cobalt tones adding depth to the brushwork.
