📜 Description
Fine Chinese Porcelain Tankard dating to the Kangxi period, decorated in a classic Imari palette of underglaze Blue & White with overglaze iron-red and gilt highlights.
The body is painted with a continuous Landscape scene featuring a riverside pavilion, trees, and distant hills, rendered in a lively and fluid style typical of the Qing Dynasty. The rim displays a geometric and floral border.
The tankard is fitted with a later or associated Gilt Metal Handle, showing signs of age and wear, adding to its historical character.
Collector’s Notes: Kangxi period Porcelain tankards were often produced for export markets, particularly Europe, where such forms were highly popular. The Imari style—combining cobalt blue, iron-red, and gilding—was especially prized. Pieces retaining original or period-mounted metal handles are of strong collector interest, reflecting cross-cultural trade and adaptation during the early 18th Century.
