📜 Description
A striking Chinese monochrome porcelain water pot (brush washer), likely 20th century, covered in a deep oxblood (sang-de-boeuf) glaze with fine mottling and subtle tonal variation.
This domed vessel has a rounded body with a narrow opening at the top and a pale celadon-glazed interior and base, typical of monochrome scholar’s objects made in Jingdezhen. The base shows a pale greenish crackle glaze within the unglazed footrim.
The copper-red glaze pools richly around the mouth with a darker edge, showing the natural depth and complexity characteristic of high-fired oxblood glazes. A fine and understated scholar’s studio object, made for use with water or ink.
