The base bears an apocryphal Qianlong reign mark.
COLLECTOR’S NOTE
Brush pots, known as bitong, have long been essential objects on the Chinese scholar’s desk. Dragon motifs symbolize power, strength, and good fortune, while later porcelain examples with earlier reign marks remain popular for their decorative appeal and traditional craftsmanship.
