An elegant studio reproduction of the celebrated Jun ware type, finished with a lustrous flambé glaze combining lavender, sky-blue, and purple-red tones that flow naturally across the surface. The interior exhibits a cratered copper-splash effect typical of high-temperature reduction firings. The foot ring is unglazed, revealing warm buff stoneware beneath. The bowl draws direct inspiration from historic masterpieces such as the so-called “Alexander Jun Bowl”, discussed by Regina Krahl and preserved in the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
Collector’s Notes: Modern potters continue to explore the Jun glaze tradition from Henan province, celebrated for its unpredictable and spontaneous copper-purple and blue effects created during oxidation and reduction cycles in the kiln. Each piece is unique, echoing the Song dynasty’s pursuit of harmony, spontaneity, and natural beauty.
