DESCRIPTION

A Chinese ceramic roof tile figure depicting a standing attendant with hands clasped in a respectful gesture. The figure is decorated in vibrant turquoise and amber sancai-style glazes with natural cream-colored facial features and a dark glazed cap. Mounted on its original architectural base with hollow underside typical of roof tile construction. An attractive architectural ceramic displaying centuries of age and weathering.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Chinese glazed roof tile figures were used to adorn temples, palaces, and important buildings, serving both decorative and symbolic purposes. Ming Dynasty architectural ceramics are admired for their vibrant lead glazes and expressive modelling, making surviving examples desirable additions to collections of Chinese art and architectural antiquities.
