DESCRIPTION
A Chinese carved soapstone scholar’s desk ornament featuring two joined brush pots or planter compartments. The piece is richly carved with a fruiting branch extending across both vessels above a pierced rockwork base. One vessel is decorated with incised floral motifs while the other bears Chinese character inscriptions. The natural stone displays attractive color variation and detailed hand carving throughout.
