DESCRIPTION

A compact vintage brass lipstick holder or protective cosmetic case of cylindrical form. The body is engraved with the words Tulma Lip Stick and has an attractive naturally aged golden brass surface. A removable fitted cap bears a raised geometric emblem, with a corresponding emblem visible inside the cap. The base is stamped RED, presumably indicating the original lipstick shade or contents. Its small scale, period wear and simple functional construction give the piece appealing vintage cosmetic character.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Small lipstick cases and cosmetic accessories are interesting examples of changing personal grooming and packaging design during the 20th century. Marked examples such as this Tulma piece offer additional interest for collectors of vintage cosmetics, advertising, vanity accessories and small brass objects.
