DESCRIPTION

Chinese porcelain teapot finely decorated in grisaille enamels with rouge de fer and gilt highlights.The rounded body is painted with butterflies in flight, insects climbing scrolling plants, floral sprays and lichee fruit motifs.Delicate gilt and enamel detailing reflects the refined taste of the Yongzheng period.The spout has an old metal reinforcement sleeve applied at the tip.An attractive example of early Qing export porcelain with lively naturalistic decoration.

COLLECTOR’S NOTE

Yongzheng period porcelains are admired for their elegant forms and finely controlled enamel decoration.Grisaille wares with rouge and gilt accents were produced for export and elite domestic markets during the 18th century.Butterfly motifs in Chinese art symbolize joy, longevity, and happiness.
