📜 Description
An exceptionally rare and finely crafted Chinese porcelain tea bowl and matching saucer, dating to the Qianlong period (1736–1795) of the Qing dynasty. This exquisite set showcases reticulated (linglong) openwork lattice borders, skillfully pierced and richly enhanced with overglaze famille rose floral sprays and gilded accents.

The interiors are superbly decorated with central floral compositions, including delicately painted blooms, foliage, and a brown bird, all executed in soft polychrome enamels. The pierced fretwork along the rims and outer wall of the bowl creates a lace-like effect, demonstrating both technical virtuosity and artistic grace.

The saucer’s wide rim features intricate openwork fret decoration, hand-painted with enameled garlands and picked out in gilt. The tea bowl continues the design, with the exterior pierced and overlaid with gilded floral reserves.

Collector’s Notes:Porcelain of this type, combining reticulated linglong work with famille rose enamel, is extremely scarce. While reticulated wares were known in earlier periods, the technical challenge of combining pierced porcelain with painted enamel decoration places this firmly in the high artistry of imperial or high-quality export production during the Qianlong reign.

Provenance: Previously offered at Woolley & Wallis, May 2024, Lot 1024.
