| 📜 Description | Chinese export Porcelain saucer decorated in fine Grisaille enamels with delicate Gilt highlights. The central scene depicts a Western-style European interior with two figures, an altar vessel adorned with peacock feathers, and a chained goat, rendered in the characteristic monochrome palette of Qianlong period export wares. The rim is finished with a geometric diaper border in grey-black enamel. Collector’s Notes: Grisaille decoration was highly fashionable on Chinese export porcelain made for the European market during the mid-18th century. These scenes were often inspired by Western prints and paintings, adapted by Canton workshops for foreign clients. Such Qianlong period saucers are sought after for their refined line work, subtle shading, and clear reflection of East–West artistic exchange. |
